Predictive Programming - JFK Style

Psychological warfare has been in operation since the early wars of human history.  Of late it's been redefined as "predictive programming" based on the idea that underground ideas from the Ruling Class, that are to be implemented, are being "seeded" to the public via the mass media in movies, TV shows, novels, news broadcasts, blogs and so on. 

In many instances not actual warfare but more as a tool to disrupt the morale of an enemy army.  It's said to be an essential tool of a tyrannical government to subdue a captive public and it's also said to have a pervasive influence as seen in the media, the internet, and the daily operations of government.  It's particularly evident in movies and TV shows where symbols and memes are employed often.  

But does predictive programming in movies or TV shows really forecast future events?  There is a lot of debate on that. Just because the first episode of the Lone Gunmen features a plot to hijack a commercial airliner and ram it into the Twin Towers does not mean the public is being conditioned for the real thing to happen.  How could it?  In this instance, it seems more coincidental, merely a plot device.  The notion has been out there a long time.  Tom Clancy used an airliner to crash into the Capitol building in one of his novels.  Yet, hidden messages are there and prevalent in popular media. 

Regardless, psychological conditioning seems a more app phrase.  Whether it works or not they believe it does.  All intelligence agencies utilize it.  David Philips, deeply involved in the history of the assassination started out as a propaganda expert and was a specialist in psychological operations.  The main purpose of propaganda is psychological, to influence people along a certain line of thought.  If that doesn't work then they use other methods. Obviously not everybody is fooled and that is when the ridicule starts.

What follows is a look into how predictive programming was used to build up to the Kennedy assassination and one incident in particular.

Ralph Yates
Air conditioning repair tech Ralph Yates was on his way to his job one morning two days before the assassination when he picked up a young man hitchhiking. The guy had a long package in his arm which Yates recommended he put in the back of his truck.  The young man declined saying they were curtain rods.  Later as he drove on, the guy started discussing the President's upcoming trip to Dallas and asking Yates if it was possible to have an assassin with a high powered rifle take a shot at his motorcade from the windows of the surrounding buildings. Yates assumed so.  At that point the hitchhiker took out a photo of himself holding a long rifle in one hand with a knife in the other, and a pistol strapped to his waist.  Yates agreed that a rifle like that could take out a President if equipped with a scope.  Finally, he let the young fellow off at the corner of Houston and Elm.  Yes, right at the Texas Schoolbook Depository Building with Oswald inside at the very same time.

If this account is true, this meeting of Ralph Yates with the hitchhiker contains all of the major elements of the legend the Warren Commission will build for the assassination of John F. Kennedy.  You have the curtain rods package which is a disguise for the rifle, the picture which simulates the famous backyard photo of Oswald holding the alleged murder weapon, a discussion of how to assassinate someone from an open window in a high-rise building, and finally, the young man being dropped off at the corner of the very building that will be the center of the whole event.  (It should be noted that Yates told authorities that this fellow did not resemble Oswald.)

If the assassination of Kennedy is not a conspiracy then what is going on here?  Many of the major elements of the official government narrative of Kennedy's murder are cast before the event happens.  Ralph Yates gets to work and relates to a fellow co-worker about his encounter with this strange kid.  In turn, more people most likely heard the tale.  The spell is cast.  It is now in circulation and will come to fruition in two days.  The psychological conditioning for the upcoming assassination is now in play.  At least for one man.

However, it is not known what good all of this is.  Why would replicating facts from a future event and telling one man about it have any actual effect?  It might have some greater success if more people had these encounters. Regardless to what end, the forces that conduct these operations believe it works.   Apparently the conspiracy was carefully planned with outlying activities on the side meant to mold the public mind.  Just like the reversed frames from the Zapruder published in Life magazine implying a shot from the rear, which ironically, were published in the same exact wrong sequence in the Warren Commission's 26 volumes. 

Oswald had to be the lone gunman, from early on, and nothing else was ever going to matter after that.

It is unknown how many people had encounters with this hitchhiker.  Or if there were other young men like him in the Dallas area doing what amounts to an Oswald role playing game.  If there are other witnesses to this type of encounter, it would be helpful to investigators if they came forward with their stories.

Allen Dulles And The Doppelgängers

As told me by longtime JFK researcher Jones Harris, it was known around Washington that CIA Director Allen Dulles had an interest in utilizing doubles for intelligence work.  The first opportunity, the story went, came when Dulles was at a party and met a young man at a party that was fresh out of college and spoke fluently in both Russian and Chinese.  Dulles reportedly learned that this young man also had a twin brother who was also fluent in both languages.  Dulles is  said to have remarked, “I must have this pair.”  

If true, this is an interesting confirmation to bolster the doppelgänger theory which has been explored on this blog and by others, such as John Armstrong in his book, Harvey and Lee.  It shows that Dulles knew more about the assassination than anybody else on the Commission and probably, as Jones Harris told me, knew the most about what really happened regarding the assassination of John Kennedy.

It is not unheard of for intelligence agencies to employ identical twins in operations.  Fidel Castro did when he utilized the DeLaGuardia twins.  The famous spy Mata Hari had a double that danced for her while she was doing espionage work for the Germans during World War I.  Hence, is it not unknown for intelligence agencies to use doubles.  One man can be out on operations and if plans go unfavorably, then there is an alibi; just make sure the double is seen in a public place such as work, restaurant, a party, and so on.  When it comes to “plausible deniability,” the CIA are experts at it.

Another indication occurred during the Warren Commission hearings when Lee’s older brother, Robert Oswald was giving testimony and when it came to the summer of 1947, Dulles abruptly broke in and called for a break.  When the testimony continued, they picked up from the summer of 1948, which surprisingly, Robert Oswald went along with.  Was he coached to go along with this ignoring of the timeline?  Some researchers think so.  Regardless, his older brother John Pic, in earlier testimony, stated the Oswald family was living in Fort Worth, Texas, when other evidence points to an Oswald residence in the town of Benbrook, which was 18 miles west of Fort Worth.  Was Allen Dulles concerned about Robert mentioning the Fort Worth address as well?  Is Dulles familiar with two Oswald’s being involved in intelligence operations?  

This is murky area of the Kennedy assassination and deserves further research.

Who Was Marguerite Oswald?

As I stated in my four-part series, Lee Oswald Was A Weird Dude, I have some issues with Lee Oswald doppelganger theory.  You start out with the general strangeness of the concept followed by other mysteries that can never be fully resolved.  Such as, what happens to the other Oswald after the assassination?  Is he killed by the conspirators?  Does he get his face rearranged and sent on other covert missions?  Is he set up in a witness protection program?  If he is being impersonated it starts out as a teenager, at the age of 14 (various sources, mainly multiple educational records and witness interaction).  That would mean there needs to be two mothers being impersonated as well.  And they have to resemble each other.  So now you have two moms and two sons.  As Hunter S. Thomson once said, “When the going gets weird the weird turn pro.”  No doubt this is the case here.  If Oswald-as-double is wacky, give them each a mother and off we go into the outer fringe sustainability.    

The Records and the Witnesses 

The witness testimony forms two different, though consistent portraits of Marguerite Oswald.  One group has her a tall, attractive woman with a pleasing personality.  The other group describes her as short, overweight, poorly dressed, with a thoroughly unpleasant personality.  Many people having known Marguerite just a few years before the assassination were surprised with her looks after her picture was splashed through the press.  When one witness who knew the short, heavy Marguerite is shown a picture of the tall, thin, attractive one they often can’t recognize the Marguerite they knew.  Just note of the pictures above (online only).  The Marguerite from 1945 is tall, slim and trim.  The Marguerite from 1963 is short and heavy-set.

Marguerite Oswald lived a nickel to dime existence for most of her life.  Of her three marriages, two ended in divorce and one by death (Lee and Robert’s dad).  Most of her jobs were in retail sales or home nursing.  She apparently did a lot of “off the books” employment.  She never stayed at an employer for very long.  Despite a life teetering near poverty she never had a problem buying a house and bought and sold many.  The questioning of finances is one issue but the things she does with the houses are another.  In her brief time living with Lee in New York she worked menial jobs while at the same time owning a house in Ft. Worth, Texas.  She apparently did not consider renting it out and using those funds to finance living in New York.  She eventually sold it to a neighbor after inquiring if the house was for sale.  In 1950 when she wrote to her son from her first marriage, John Pic, telling him she was two months behind in rent when she had bought a house in 1948.  Why rent another place when she owns a house?  Or for that matter, have the income to do such a thing?

Also of interest is Marguerite Oswald’s employment at the Dolly Shoe Company in the spring of 1955.  She was known for being unfriendly, a constant complainer, and never smiled.  This was the short, heavy woman the world would meet after the assassination.  She talked her boss into hiring Lee as well.  Being the cashier, eventually her boss required her to be bonded.  He handed her the forms to fill out, which she never did.  Nor would she give a straight answer as to why not.  Eventually she was fired.  Of course, filling out the forms would leave a paper trail.  It would also require Marguerite to give background information and references on herself, revealing things she might not want known.  Would a bond application create a conflict with another Marguerite/Margaret?

In 1960, two women that were good friends with Marguerite Oswald, Mrs. Logan Magruder and Mrs. Oris Duane both reported meeting her in New Orleans.  (This was the tall, attractive version.) Both women spoke to her at the time.  Mrs. Magruder saw and chatted with her while working in Kreiger’s Department store and Mrs. Duane saw and spoke to her in Goldring’s Department store selling dresses.  A conflict arises here as the Warren Commission states that Marguerite was supposed to have moved out of New Orleans in June of 1956 to Ft. Worth, Texas never to return.  In September of 1960 she moved to Boyd Texas, north of Ft. Worth opened a small variety shop on Main street and opened a bank account at the Continental State Bank. Yet, here are two women who had been friends with Marguerite since the 1940’s who say they saw and spoke to her where she should not have been.  Apparently the FBI never investigated this lead in Louisiana.

Peculiarities Abound

Marguerite Oswald, in every interview either with government authorities to newspaper reporters often gave conflicting testimony about her life and related events. When interviewed by a New York probation officer in relation to Lee being truant, she gave conflicting accounts of her life.  She got at least five things wrong, from the number of years she had been married (a total of 13 years from three marriages but she said 9) to getting Lee’s birth date wrong.  What mother does not know her own child’s birthday?  At the age of 44 it seemed as if she did not know her own life story on many different levels.  Perhaps that is because this “Marguerite” was an impostor with too much to remember? 

Marguerite’s Warren Commission testimony is likewise filled with contradictions and misstatements that are, for the most part, ignored by her questioners.  To read the transcript of her testimony is to see a woman with an annoying character, a babbler, constantly rambling off-point, always in need of being herded back in the right direction.  Once again, she made numerous comments that were false.  At one point she misled the Commission when she was asked if any FBI agents had spoken to her before the assassination.  She said no.  This was not true.  She was visited in regards to her son’s defection to the USSR once in 1960, and twice in 1961.  An odd thing to lie about as it is so easily proven.  But it didn’t end there.  She for some reason couldn’t remember her married sister's surname.  At another instance, she mentioned property the family owned in a city in Texas there never existed.  This could have been the misstatements of an impostor not knowing or remembering pertinent facts.  Otherwise, it’s unknown why she would leave such a false trail or be so mentally befuddled. d.

By the time she got around to telling the Commission she thought her son Lee was a spy, the Commissioners had written her off as a kook.  At this point she had discredited herself in their eyes with her meandering testimony and oddball theories.  As one of the Commission member’s said–we can see how the son turned out with a mother like this.

What Happens Afterward?

One of my main conflicts with the Oswald doppelgänger theory as I stated earlier in their piece, is what happens to the other Oswald after the assassination. Even John Armstrong who wrote the definitive book on Oswald being a doppelgänger in Harvey and Lee, doesn’t deal with these troubling issues.  Armstrong has nothing to say in regards to what happens to the other “Marguerite” afterward either, other than she disappears from the scene.  She was reportedly spoken to by long-term friends who spotted her working in department stores in New Orleans.  But by 1956, under the official history she had left never to return.  If this is a CIA run operation it seems inconceivable that they would hire such a batty woman as Marguerite Oswald to be an operative.  On the other hand, her IRS returns are sealed from 1956-1962.  Marked “referred...postponed in full...” for reasons only the government knows we are not allowed to see these records.  Why? Opening those files to public access might explain a lot–or else create more mysteries.  Is this a cover for an operation?   Ironic that while this is concealed from the public, we are allowed to see Jack Ruby’s mother’s dental records. 

It is also of note that John and Minnie Smith have their returns from this same period also sealed and marked, “referred...postponed in full.”  Getting access to this couple’s tax returns might blow open a few lids.  Were John and Minnie Smith aliases for the other Marguerite and Lee? In fact, I find this to be one of the most peculiar and obscure mysteries of the Kennedy assassination and not well investigated.  I only read about it in Armstrong’s Harvey and Lee and no place else in the thirty-odd books I have on the assassination. (And while on the subject of tax returns, Lee Oswald’s returns from the years 1957, 1960, and 1961 have never been released, along with his certificate of birth.)

There Is a Second Margret–The First Wife

Robert Oswald’s first wife was Margret Keating (1892-1972).  They were married 13 years and divorced in 1933.  Keating never remarried and lived in the same house she shared earlier with Robert Oswald for many years.  One peculiar thing was the 1956 telephone directory in New Orleans lists her as Margret Oswald, at the correct street address.  This is a name she had not used in 23 years, since the court awarded her maiden name back to her in the 1933 divorce.  Notice the year as well–1956.  The same year Marguerite’s tax returns were withheld.  It could have been a typo but certainly an odd occurrence. 

I’ll leave this one out there for the reader to ponder...

Finally

If it was some sort of intelligence operation it was done on the fly, make it up as you go along.  For example if I let one Lee Oswald go to the barbershop, I would have him go on the weekends, not during a week day when his employment records indicate he was filling out orders in the school book depository building at the same time.  The same exact thing occurs with his mother, working in department stores in New Orleans when she is supposed to be living and working in Texas.  There is a large witness trail here, far too large to be a fluke, if this is a fringe topic.

There are still millions of files that are sealed in this case.  Of course, many files have been destroyed but every so often a little known memo surfaces.  So at some future date we may learn more, a lot more of what really went on here.  Whatever the future brings, the doppelgänger issue may be the biggest secret of the Kennedy assassination and why the cover up is so systemic in our government.

The Blabber Mouth Theory

Though I only have a casual interest in the UFO phenomena I was intrigued with a recent broadcast (2/20/11) on Coast to Coast AM, hosted by George Knapp with retired Colonel John B. Alexander and his new book, UFOs: Myths, Conspiracies, and Realities. A lot of his comments reminded me of the Warren Commission’s defenders and their arguments against conspiracy. Col. Alexander, a career military officer, was involved with intelligence and many esoteric endeavors such as the “men staring at goats” experiment and other government program weirdness. Along the way, he got an interest in UFOs and was allowed to launch a study group. Yes, the Army version of the X-Files! He interviewed everybody within the National Security index and those in the military-industrial side as well. Alexander comes across as affable, very knowledgable and sincere, open minded with an air of authority on which he speaks.

However, his conclusions are forgone; while Alexander admits there are solid cases such as the Phoenix Lights and Rendlesham Forest incident he says there is no formal government policy to cover-up the UFOs. (I wonder if he would assume the same about conspiracy with JFK’s death?) When it comes to the realities, the main stories of the lore are the myths. There is no perceived threat to National Security so no need to get involved. In other words, I’ve looked into it and there is nothing to it–trust me–don’t worry your little head over it.

A closer examination of his statements reveals him to be another servant of the National Security State with the same old flat arguments. In many ways he maneuvers like any Kennedy conspiracy debunker, though a more gentlemanly version of one. He doesn’t resort to Bugliosi-style sarcasm and verbal abuse. Gosh, it would be nice to see a JFK anti-conspiracy debunker with this much class and seemingly fair mindedness. He portrays the man of the Open Mind though all the while, we know he’s not going to go along with any major assertions. The Phoenix Lights event he’ll acknowledge is a real phenomena but ultimately a mystery requiring more investigation. The major cannons of UFOlogy, such as the MJ-12 docs and the Roswell crash, are dismissed as hoaxes. Come what may, virtually no Warren Commission supporter will walk this fine a line. It’s all or nothing with that gang.

Everything In Washington Leaks
“Everything in Washington leaks,” says Alexander. Here is ground that has been plowed too many times. The good Colonel resembles a Warren Commission acolyte. How many times has this slogan been trotted out? Okay, how does the CIA, NSA, DIA, ONI and many other agencies stay in business? They should be gone by now if they had this many leakers. This old, tired, “nobody can keep a secret” nonsense is the classic argument against these controversies and has long been used against the JFK conspiracy researchers. Ironic that it comes from Colonel Alexander, himself being an intelligence officer with access to classified information. Has he blabbed anything? How insulting a question! That is wrong in so many different ways I could write a whole blog posting on that issue alone.

In the National Security State secrecy is the foundation of the security. In Colonel L. Flecher Prouty’s books, The Secret Team and JFK, compartmentalization is the key to containing and maintaining secret operations. Prouty would be in the loop since he was the liaison officer between the CIA and the Joint Chiefs at the Pentagon. He’s one of the insiders that let us know how the National Security State functions. One can see quite a difference between the two Colonels and how they view this issue. Prouty on one hand illustrates the need for concealment of information and operations and the processes and procedures that make it work; Alexander acts like there are no methods or procedures in place at all or if there are, they are useless. Because of this, I sense a great deal more truthfulness with Prouty. Alexander acts like these things are boring and ho-hum, striped of mystery and intrigue. He knows better.

The Blabber Mouth Theory
Another issue Col. Alexander breaches is that there isn’t any secrets that are “Above Top Secret” that the President as Commander in Chief isn’t privy to. There is if you simply don’t tell him! Kennedy ordered the CIA to stand down on assassination attempts on Castro but they didn’t–nor did they tell Kennedy anything about their ongoing operations against Cuba or for that matter what they were doing in running all military operations in Vietnam until the Marines took over in 1965. And most telling is when Jimmy Carter asked for the CIA’s UFO information and the director, at the time George Bush, told him to go to Congress. In brief, he was dead-ended. So was Bill Clinton’s early AG, Webster Hubble which Mr. Clinton asked him to look into the Kennedy assassination. He ran into the wall too. Alexander makes no mention of Carter’s run-in with the Secret Team as he wants everything to be normal to the point of dullness. Of course it’s not.

I once worked with a guy once that worked in the inner halls of government. He knew everybody from Ronald Reagan to Linda Tripp. And he admitted there were levels of classification so high the President wasn’t privy to them. He thought it was a good thing. I of course, did not. To witness Alexander deny this is quite telling and lends plausibility to his critics that he is a disinformation agent.

Col. Alexander was so adamant about people not keeping secrets George Knapp asked him, “So you’re of the belief that nobody can keep a secret...even by the military?” That’s when Alexander responds with the quote above about two people knowing something then it’s no longer a secret, which is ridiculous. One of the main jobs of intelligence operatives, both military and civilian, is the collecting and keeping of secrets. He knows it and backpedals a bit by saying that a secret can be kept for a “short period of time.” Perhaps he thought better of impugning the integrity of those people working in intelligence that work hard at keeping information under wraps and in some cases put their lives on the line to do so.

Besides, there is a certain prestige associated with keep information concealed. I’ve signed three nondisclosure agreements in the course of my professional life. I’ve never spilled the beans on any of them, even now with two of those projects no longer operational. In the military there is little prestige as violating a signed oath is rewarded with prison time, as the Navy enlisted men found out after the John Kennedy’s autopsy. They all had to sign nondisclosure agreements and were all read the riot act if they ever breathed a word of what they saw and experienced that night. (Fortunately, those former Navy personnel that were interviewed for the ARRB in the late 1990s were given a waiver. That’s how we know about the ordering of the signed secrecy agreements.)

Be that as it may, the Blabber Mouth Theory holds no value and is a weak argument that is constantly used against conspiracy advocates. People do conspire, that is why it’s criminalized.

The Debunking Way
UFO investigator Bud Hopkins in his article, Deconstructing the Debunkers: A Response, made the following point:


“It’s long been understood that debunking and skepticism are two very different things, the former, an artifact of rigid ideology and the latter an objective, scientifically-inclined position.”

That is what it appears. Though over time it seems that both debunking and skepticism has involved into the same thing. A rigid mindset whose purpose is to scoff, downplay and discredit controversial claims and beliefs. In this case, controversial since it doesn’t go along with the flow. Such as when people don’t believe what government investigators tell them about a plane crash (flight 800), an assassination (JFK, RFK, MLK, MX), a bombing (Murrah Building) and a terrorist attack (9-11). The Ruling Class does not like us exposing their deceit. So on the offensive they go, either from volunteers or paid shills. People like skeptic Michael Shermer publish a magazine to support the status quo and make a career out of it. Whatever the government says is the gospel for these people. Only the critics get scanned for their claims or errors. And of course to the Shermer crowd, the critics are always wrong.

So debunking and skepticism is really a means to an end. The way the Ruling Class defends its turf. Just say the words, you don’t have to mean them. They will sound good. In the mix, real history and what actually happened gets lost in a maze of trails. It’s lensed through the words of the winners and the losers have to fight for shelf space. With the rise of the Internet everybody has the ability to self-publish and self-broadcast. Now both sides can square off and do battle for what represents the truth. One good thing is they will no longer be able to edit the tape so Orville Nix is heard saying that he heard shots coming from the building and not the grassy knoll–and it was the knoll he heard shots from–and he is left with no platform to refute the deception.

It’s so nice to be truly free. While it lasts.
